Tunisch haken en een handtasje// Tunisian crochet and a handbag

Het heeft even geduurd, maar hij is af, de tafelloper die ik heb gemaakt door middel van Tunisch haken. Ik heb veel vragen over dit project gekregen. De meest voorkomende vraag was of het erg moeilijk is, Tunisch haken. Ik vind van niet.  Er zijn zoveel goede beschrijvingen op YouTube te vinden, daar hoef je het niet om te laten. Ik vond het wel fijn om het te proberen met een dikker garen. Het is gemaakt met de Rico Creative Cotton, tunische haaknaald nummer 4.//

It did take a while, but my Tunisian crochet table throw is finished!  I got a lot of questions about this project. The question that was asked the most is how difficutlt Tunisian crochet is. Even though I used the simple stitch, Tunisian crochet is not that difficult, anyone who can crochet can do this! There are so many good tutorials on YouTube! I did like the fact that I used thick yarn, it is easier to pick up the yarn. I used the Rico Creative cotton and a 4 mm tunisian crochet hook.

Ik heb ook nog een klein handtasje gehaakt gisteren, met dik garen (6 mm haaknaald), ik ga hem ook nog eens proberen met dunner garen.//
I crocheted a small handbag with chunky yarn. I'll try to make a little bag like this with smaller yarn.

Volgende keer blog ik over de nieuwe kleuren garen die ik binnen heb gekregen, ik wacht nog op één bestelling.//

Gelukkig nieuwjaar!// Happy newyear!

Gelukkig nieuwjaar!!Ik wens iedereen heel veel geluk en voorspoed in 2011, en maar veel creatieve inspiratie! 

In mijn vorige post schreef ik dat ik wat mee rzou bloggen, ehm, dat is dus niet gelukt. Ik heb al bijna twee weken niet geblogd! Een persoonlijk dieptepunt! ;) Maar alle gekheid op een stokje, meteen een goed voornemen voor 2011; meer bloggen. Ik heb wel een flink aantal bestelling voor garen binnengekregen op www.craftyvalley.nl, dus wat dat betreft ben ik wel lekker bezig geweest!

I promised to blog more in my last post, I did not do that, I haven't blogged for almost two weeks! So this is my newyears resolution! Blog more! 

I did get lots of yarnorders via www.craftyvalley.nl so I have been quite busy with that!

Nadat ik ziek was geweest werd ik heel, heel erg moe, elke avond viel ik in slaap op onze comfortabele bank. (het is meer een bed voor mij, ik ben niet zo groot!) Alle extra slaap heeft wel geholpen, ik voel me stukken beter! 

Dus te moe om te bloggen en twitteren en te suf om mijn hoofd erbij te houden tijdens het haken ben ik maar gaan lezen. Heb ik jullie ooit verteld dat mijn man en ik boekenwurmen zijn? Allebei dol op lezen en we hebben dus ook 4 grote boekenkasten in de woonkamer. We lezen veel verschillende genres maar we zijn wel allebei extra dol op Fantasy en SF. We hebben elkaar ooit leren kennen bij het Tolkien Genootschap Unquendor, een vereniging voor mensen die de boeken van Tolkien erg waarderen. (In de Ban van de Ring, de Hobbit, etc.) We hebben dus ook één grote boekenkast met alleen boeken van deze auteur. Vandaag gun ik jullie een kijkje in mijn boekenkast!

After being sick I was very, very tired. I fell asleep on our cosy sofa every evening. (Our sofa is almost a bed to me, I'm quite short :) ) All the extra sleep did help though! I feel much better!

So I was too tired to blog or twitter and I kept making mistakes while crocheting because I couldn't focus so I picked a couple of books that I have been wanting to read for ages! 

Did I ever tell you that I love to read? My husband and I are very fond of reading, we have all sort of genres in our bookcases but Fantasy and SF are our favorite genres. 

We were both members of a Dutch Tolkien society called Unquendor and that is where we met. We have lots of Tolkien books. Today I give you a peek in our bookcases!

Een collega van mij had op een beurs de breivork gezien. Daarmee kun je razendsnel leuke koortjes maken, je kan er kettingen, sjaals, armbandjes, haarbanden en nog veel meer van maken als je maar genoeg fantasie hebt. Kijk wat een leuk garen ik erbij kocht! //

A colleague of mine saw someone use a knittingfork at a fmarket. You can make nice cords with this fork and it works really fast! You can make bracelets, necklaces, scarfs, headband and lots more if you have enough imagination. Look at the nice yarn I bought with it!

Ik kocht er ook twee voor mijn meiden en die vinden het erg leuk. Mijn dochtertje van net 6 had het heel snel onder de knie en ze kunnen heel snel een leuke ketting breivorken.//

I also bought one for both my girls and they love it! My youngest who is barely 6 years old figured out how to do it really fast and she is able to make a necklace really fast. Very rewarding!

De sjaal waar ik mee bezig was met gebruik van de puff steek, heb ik af! Ik noem hem de Solar Burst sjaal (zonne vlam) omdat de kleuren me daar zo aan doen denken! Deze sjaal is binnenkort te koop in mijn Etsy winkel! http://www.etsy.com/shop/CraftyValley

De kerstvakantie was heerlijk rustig, nu weer het normale leven! De kinderen vandaag voor het eerst naar hun nieuwe school, wij weer volledig aan het werk! //

All we did in the holidays was relax and enjoy the spare time we had. The kids are going to their new school today and we are at our dayjobs again! Back to normal!

Sneeuwspiratie// Snowspiration

De afgelopen weken hebben jullie weinig van me gehoord, ik ben ziek geweest en hoewel ik wel lekker op mijn plekje op de bank jullie blogs heb gelezen en inspiratie heb opgedaan, was ik te moe om zelf een blog te schrijven. Rond deze tijd van het jaar speelt mijn bronchitis altijd erg op en nu had ik er een infectie bij, dus met paardenmiddelen van huisarts is het nu weer onder controle. De komende weken ga ik proberen om weer lekker actief te zijn!//

I haven't been blogging much the last weeks, I've been quite ill. I did read a lot of blogs but I was too tired to place comments to all your lovely project and pictures. Around this time of year my bronchitis plays up and I had a horrid infection, so thanks to my GP's miraclemedicine I feel a bit better now. Although I am quite tired still. I hope to be a bit more active the following weeks.

Ondanks de ziekte hadden we wel een verjaardag (mijn jongste zoon werd 8) en het afscheid op school. Onze jongste 3 kinderen gaan vanaf 3 januari naar een andere school toe. We hopen dat het voor hun alleen maar leuker en beter is op de andere school maar toch was het afscheid best emotioneel, leerkrachten waar ik al jaren contact mee heb, die ons prima hebben begeleid, waar je nu afscheid van neemt. Heftig! Voor de kinderen was het net zo.//

Despite me feeling not so good, we did have a birthday (my son turned 8 years old) and we said goodbye at school. As of January 3rd our youngest 3 children are going to visit another school. The goodbye's at the old school were very emotional, we had to say goodbye to teachers that have guided an taught our children for years. Very emotional for both the kids and for us. We hope they have a wonderful time at their new school.

Ook ben ik begonnen aan iets wat ik al langer wilde proberen, Tunisch haken! Dit project is gemaakt met de Tunische basissteek. Het is heel verslavend, lijkt heel ingewikkeld maar is het niet als je het eenmaal doorhebt! Voor meer informatie over Tunisch haken kijk eens op youtube. (zoekterm; Tunisian crochet ) Zoveel mooie steken!

Met Tunisch haken werk je twee keer op en neer voor één rij, en doordat je op de helft van zo'n rij een nieuwe kleur toevoegt krijg je dus het effect dat het verloopt. Ik heb mijn Rico Creative katoen gebruikt. (te koop in mijn shop; www.craftyvalley.nl)//

I also started something that I wanted to do for a while now, Tunisian crochet! I made this project with the Tunisian simple stitch. It is very addictive and seems very complicated but once you get the hang of it, it is real simple! For more Tunisian stitch information go to youtube and search Tunisian crochet, so many stitches to make!

With Tunisian crochet you work two times accross to make 1 row. So when you change colours halfway through than you get this nice blending effect. I used my Rico Creative cotton (for sale in my shop: www.craftyvalley.com)

Ik ben bijna klaar met de hexagonsjaal, hij is zo mooi! Deze zal ik te koop gaan aanbieden op Etsy, waar ik ook een winkeltje ben begonnen. (www.etsy.com, grote online site voor handgemaakte artikelen)//

Raad eens wat ik kreeg van mijn man omdat ik zo ziekjes was;

Een hele mooie theeset van ChaCult en ik had al staan kijken bij het leuke koffie en theewinkeltje bij ons in de stad naar deze mooie set en toen kocht de lieverd precies diegene die ik mooi vond! Staat zo mooi op mijn hexagon tafelkleedje.//

Ik heb een leuke theemuts gemaakt, anders werd de thee zo snel koud. Ik gebruikte hiervoor altijd een thermoskan maar deze theepot is té leuk om niet te gebruiken!//

I immediatly made a cute teacosy, to make sure the tea stays warm! I just hád to use the teapot, love it so much!

Voor nu weer genoeg gekletst! Zal snel mijn blog-achterstand proberen in te halen!//
